Stop Receiving Junk E-mail (SPAM)
Your e-mail account provides several ways to help protect your account from junk e-mail. To help protect your account:
- Do not reply to junk e-mail, even to ask to be removed from the sender's mailing list. You may only be confirming that your e-mail address is valid. It is best to delete the message and set up the junk e-mail filter.
- Remove yourself from any member directory that shows your e-mail address to others.
Note:
For PC users moving changing to Outlook 2003 will eliminate a great deal of SPAM due to their increased features in regards to Junk Email. Most universities offer free Microsoft software to its students - for more information contact your university.

SMTP Server Settings (Outgoing Email Server Settings)
The SMTP server is a configuration setting within all pop E-mail applications. When using a pop E-mail application such as Eudora, Mail, Microsoft Outlook, Entourage, Netscape, Thunderbird, etc the SMTP server setting must be configured correctly or outgoing mail will not be sent. (Normally, checking mail will still work if the SMTP server is not configured correctly within your pop mail application).
